These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

Home decor is all about making the spaces within your house a reflection of those who live inside. Here are some easy ideas to make your home reflect your heart.
Gather a collection of your favorite things & sayings that inspire you.
Draw from your childhood memories; cluster items which remind you of former days. This idea is perfect for a small space in an office or shelf in a child's bedroom.

Give special attention to photographs that capture the best moments in your life. Shadow or memory boxes like those shown here are available at craft/hobby stores and are an elegant alternative to standard frames. Including a tin word plaque within the arrangement creates a 'romantic' flair to the grouping. These granite pots are hand-me-downs from my grandmothers. Combined with a modern kitchen plaque, it's a perfect combination of old & new.

Bringing the Outdoors IN...

You can bring 'sunshine' into your house all year 'round (regardless of the weather outside) by incorporating florals into the decor of your rooms. This guest room is designed to mimic an English garden with the dominant bedside arrangement seen here.Old barn window frames painted white are draped with bright, cheery peony blossoms are a low-cost & easy way to bring the outdoors IN.

Winter Wedding Elegance...

This bride & groom were married on a wintry day in January. White roses arranged in a cascading bouquet complimented the bride's classic dress and the icy green branches added 'sparkle' to the florals. The boutonnières were kept simple; you know it is with guy's wearing flowers!

Spring is Coming (Eventually)...

"Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush."-- Doug Larson.

I thought this quote a very accurate illustration of what springtime is like here in the Midwest and it made me hope, even on this dreary wintry day, of the springtime which is not so far away. And springtime, of course, means flowers! If you'd like to liven up a dining room table with a bouquet of stems (perhaps for an upcoming Easter celebration) or if you'd like a flowery arrangement for your front door to welcome guests to your home, check out some recent designs and contact us for a custom-designed arrangement so you're ready to welcome Spring, whenever it decides to arrive.

Party Theme in a Glittery Package...

When you are planning an event, it's important that the decor contribute to the essence of the activity. Whether you are looking for something elegant & classic for an anniversary dinner or a design with a more contemporary flare, we can customize designs to meet your expectations. The below glittery packages were used to add 'pizzazz' to a office holiday luncheon and easily transformed a boring cafeteria environment into a festive room.

Blue, Blue Winter...

Here is a winter-themed wreath & garland we create for friends in the Chicago 'burbs. The wintry-blue color scheme allows for these designs to last beyond the holidays and add cheer to their home all winter long. Because are designs are made with artificial florals (instead of fresh flowers and/or greens), the designs can be used year after year.

The Colors of Love...

This wedding occured on a pictureque autumn day in October. In addition to designing florals for the church & the reception centerpieces, Designs by Blake assisted in coordinating the flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages) for the wedding party/family members. We also created a unique cake table design for the couple.

Although we had nothing to do with the fabulous fall colors, I could not resist posting a picture of the bride & groom surrounded by the brillance.
